Artifact: Cleats
Ever since I started playing soccer in elementary school, I have worn only two pairs of cleats. I outgrew my first pair throughout middle school. Even though my second pair barely fits me nowadays, I can't wear anything else. I have even tried to purchase new cleats, but I just cannot play with them. You have to feel comfortable running and kicking the ball across the field with whatever you choose to wear, and it takes time for you to adjust to your new shoes and for them to adjust to you, your speed, and your weight. I guess I just do not have the patience to adapt to new cleats anymore. There's also the fact my old cleats represent so much more to me than just old soccer shoes. They represent the transition from middle to high school, and the time I finally decided to stop practicing soccer. They represent my decision to quit my school's team, which was a hard one. I can never let them go because in a way they kept me connected to soccer even though I chose to quit. Everything I look at them, I remember the thrill of running across the field or scoring a goal.
